PSD-95 P78352-3

Full protein name Disks large homolog 4;Postsynaptic density protein 95;Synapse-associated protein 90
Gene name DLG4;PSD95
Species Homo sapiens
Localization Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor; Cytoplasmic side; Cell junction, synapse, postsynaptic cell membrane, postsynaptic density; Cell junction, synapse; Cytoplasm; Cell projection, axon.
Description Interacts with the cytoplasmic tail of NMDA receptor subunits and shaker-type potassium channels. Required for synaptic plasticity associated with NMDA receptor signaling. Overexpression or depletion of DLG4 changes the ratio of excitatory to inhibitory synapses in hippocampal neurons. May reduce the amplitude of ASIC3 acid-evoked currents by retaining the channel intracellularly. May regulate the intracellular trafficking of ADR1B. Also regulates AMPA-type glutamate receptor (AMPAR) immobilization at postsynaptic density keeping the channels in an activated state in the presence of glutamate and preventing synaptic depression.
PSD-95 is a member of membrane associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family, in which the PDZ-SH3-GK tandems (PSG) can function as supramodules.
PSD-95 contains three PDZ (PSD-95, Dlg, ZO-1) domains, an SH3 (Src homology 3) domain, and a GK (guanylate kinase) domain.
